Introducing our SlimFlex 1.6mm Carbon Topdeck "TYPE 1" for the Yokomo MS1.0
Based on the proven design of our extremely popular BD12 topdeck, our successor topdeck improves the handling of your MS1.0!
We now have two topdeck options available, and since the front and rear are the same length, we now sell them separately so you can mix and match the front and rear types, and also buy them separately to cut tabs and try different flex settings.
TYPE 1- This type is more commonly used in the front, but on vehicles like the Mugen MTC2R it is common to use this type front and rear. It expands the amount of material, which increases flex across the entire top deck, which is desirable on the shorter MS1.0 top decks. Although we recommend starting with this type in the front, it can also be used in the rear to get more flex and more rotation if you suffer from understeer.
TYPE 2 - This type is more commonly used in the back as it has less flex and a shorter amount of material. It also has the "squiggly" brace that reduces the flex of the bulkhead, which is often desirable in the rear. With high traction, this topdeck can also work very well at the front as it stiffens the caster and bulkhead flex, resulting in a more predictable and rounder car in the corners.
The topdeck has 2 pivot screw positions for adding or removing flex (1 screw soft, 2 screws hard) which is a great way to adjust the overall amount of flex in the front or rear of the car. The top decks also have "cuttable" tabs that can be used to move the flex point forward or backward. Cutting the tabs increases the flex of the vehicle at this point.
On asphalt or grippy carpet, you can cut one or both front tabs, depending on how much you want to steer (more cuts = more steering). However, too much flex could make the car difficult to drive, so cut the tabs one at a time.
On medium/high traction carpet tracks or very high traction asphalt, it may be desirable to leave all tabs in place to stiffen the car and make it easier to drive on the high grip.
Our SlimFlex top decks are precision CNC machined in Australia from high quality 3K carbon fiber. They come with 1x precision machined top deck bolts that can be used to mount the front and rear top decks (1 each).
